An Evening of Commemoration and Celebration!

Join El Centro de la Raza as we celebrate our inaugural Legacy Awards and Auction Banquet. This event will honor the life of our beloved founder, Roberto Maestas, who recently passed away, but whose legacy of fighting for racial equality and an end to poverty continues to influence and inspire our work.

We will be instituting a legacy award and scholarship in Roberto’s honor that will be presented at the event and celebrating all who follow the path of fighting for social justice. The auction portion of the event will be instrumental in supporting the continuation of Roberto’s legacy here at El Centro. All funds raised will support our 32 human service, education, and community-building programs.

Roberto Felipe Maestas Legacy Award Information

In honor of the life of Roberto Felipe Maestas, the Inaugural Roberto Felipe Maestas Legacy Award will recognize two individuals who have exemplified building the Beloved Community through multi-racial unity, and working to eliminate poverty, racism and social inequity.

El Centro de la Raza will celebrate them and their contributions by making a $2,500 gift in their name to an organization of their choice.  Award applicants may self-nominate or be nominated by others. The application deadline is Friday July 15, 2011, at 5:00 pm, Pacific Time.
